The Best Part of Me

Last week, I asked the students what they each thought was the best part of them.  I snapped a picture of their best part and printed them off this weekend. Today, we were able to complete this special writing. I hope you enjoy seeing and reading these precious writing pieces as much as I have!

Writing All About Matter

 Over the past week, we have been creating our matter books. I was so impressed by their books and I wanted to share some with you!

We started by reading our mentor text, Matter Changes and creating the cover.

Next, we focused on the introduction page of our mentor text and then created our own introduction page in our books:

The next day, we focused on solids and created a page to teach others about solids:

All About Spacing!

This week, we are focusing on strategies that good writers use in their writing. Today, we focused on spacing. I started the morning by writing my morning message without any spaces. The students were so surprised that they couldn't read what I had written! After I told them that lots of sight words were in my sentence, they were even more surprised. 

This week we have been using the text, Sadie and the Snowman as our mentor text. 

Today we wrote the beginning part of our story when Sadie decided to build a snowman. The students used marshmallows to ensure that they had proper spacing between their words.
