Christmas in Australia

Today, we traveled to Australia! We were so excited to learn how they celebrate Christmas. We began our study by using google earth to locate Australia and to determine how far it is from America.

Jaylen noticed that we traveled the same direction as yesterday when we traveled to Japan. I love how observant and smart my children are!

We learned that in Australia, Santa trades his hot clothes in for some clothes that are much cooler because Christmas is celebrated during the summer! He also gives the reindeer a break and uses 6 white kangaroos to guide his sleigh. Their nicknames are the "six white boomers."

In Australia, it is very hot outside when they celebrate Christmas. We enjoyed sitting on beach towels as we learned and researched all about Christmas in Australia.

  1. Sage told me all about an Australian Christmas today. She thinks it is neat that Santa changes clothes because it is summer there at Christmas time. Also the video of the class signing was very sweet.
