Shape Sort

Last week, the students were asked to bring either a 2d or 3d shape from home. As a class, we sorted their shapes in different ways.

We began by sorting their shapes based on 2d and 3d:

These are our 3-dimensional shapes.

These were our 2-dimensional shapes. As you can see, we did not have very many 2d shapes!  This immediately turned into a quick comparing lesson!

After sorting by 2d/3d, we decided to sort by shape:

Cylinders:

Cubes:

Cones:

Spheres:

Circles:

(We focused just on the face of the watch)
