Eggs Come In Different Sizes

Today, we observed the page in our mentor text about how eggs come in different sizes. As we discussed, we recalled our previous learning about how eggs come in different shapes and now further discussed their sizes. We learned that the ostrich egg is the largest and the hummingbird egg is the smallest.

"The ostrich egg is the biggest egg in the world.  The hummingbird egg is as small as a jellybean."

"An ostrich egg is really big.  But a hummingbird egg is the size of a jellybean."

"Hummingbirds are the smallest eggs.  They are like jelly beans.  Ostrich eggs are the biggest."

"An ostrich is so big, it takes 2 hands to hold it."

"The ostrich egg is really big.  It takes 2 hands to hold.  The hummingbird is too small like a jelly bean.  I love eggs!"

"Eggs come in different sizes; like thin, soft, rough, big, and small.  The ostrich egg is the biggest.  The hummingbirds eggs are so small you can barely see them."

Have you ever wondered what the inside of an egg looks like? Check back in tomorrow as we candle our eggs!
