What are Oviparous Animals?

Today, we used the research that our students completed at home to learn about oviparous animals.

After sharing our home research, we read the book Chicken's Aren't the Only Ones.

While reading, we learned that birds, reptiles, fish, amphibians, and insects can all be oviparous. We defined oviparous on our tip chart as animals who lay eggs.

After reading, we explored more about these animals by discovering oviparous animals in eggs. As we opened an egg, the students worked to classify their animal into the correct category.

Red bird!

Hen!

Frog!

After that, the students decided to record their new learning in their, "An Egg is Quiet" journals.

Did you know that eggs come in different sizes too? Have you ever wondered which animals lay the largest and smallest eggs? Check back in tomorrow as we share our new learning in our journals!
