Do the ducklings look like their mom?

Today, after looking at a question that a student had previously asked, we decided to research and write about the baby ducklings versus their mom.

Below is a picture of the ducklings I hatched last year with my kids and those ducks as adults! I had the opportunity to see them again when I went to pick up our eggs.
Isn't that cool?

We had some predictions:
-Chase thought the ducklings were yellow and then turn white in the same way that our eyes are one color when we are born and turn another color as we grow older.
-Sam predicted that as the duckling worked to break out of the egg, it would bust the yolk and the yellow yolk would cover the duckling and stain their feathers.

After doing more research, we learned that ducklings are born with tiny, fuzzy feathers called down. As they get older, their adult white feathers come in!
"They are bigger.  The babies have down."
"When ducklings are just born they are yellow.  When they are big they are white.  The best I love is when they are just born because they are so cute!  I love ducklings!  I love mama ducks too! But the best I love baby ducks!!!!"
"The baby ducks are yellow and adults are white!"
"The baby ducks love their moms. The mommy ducks and the daddy ducks are white.  But the baby ducks are yellow."
"The baby ducks are yellow and the adults are white."
"The ducklings are soft with down. And the baby duck is yellow. And the adult ducks are white."
"They are bigger. Adults have white feathers."
"Ducklings and their moms look different.  The baby ducks are yellow and the moms are white.  The baby ducks are yellow.  The mom duck has white."
"The baby duck is not the same as the mama duck.  The baby is yellow and the mama is white."
"Baby ducks have fluffy feathers."

We are only 11 days away from hatch day!! We cannot wait!
